Spring 2023 Academy Update

All players interested in playing soccer through the TYSA's Academy program for the Spring 2023 season must be evaluated before registering for the Academy program and will eventually register for the Academy program via our website, www.tysa.us, only after receiving an invitation from TYSA. For those who are not familiar with TYSA's Academy program, the Academy program is a level of training and play beyond recreational soccer designed to help U10 and U12 players improve their technical soccer skills which they will need to play at a higher level, as well as their love for the game. Our dedicated coaching staff follows a curriculum that provides players with high-quality instruction and age-appropriate activities which creates a fun learning environment. The academy program is all about development; our goal is to give each academy player the tools they need to reach a higher level in their own soccer skill development.

During the season, Academy teams will travel to Asheville, NC, with occasional travel to the Upstate, SC, or areas of similar distance, for games to play competitive Academy teams from other youth soccer organizations. The cost for this program is targeted at around $325 per player which fee includes their uniform (jersey, shorts, and soccer socks), a full season of games, and an end-of-the-season tournament. Scholarships are given based on the need and availability of funds. This pricing is less expensive in comparison to program fees for Academy programs in the surrounding area. Practices are slated to begin in February, with the season lasting until May 1. Further information about locations, dates, and times of both practices and games will be made available following evaluations and will be communicated via email blast. Please email [email protected] any with questions about our Academy program. We are excited about another great Academy season!

Academy Program

U10 Program
The U10 Academy program is designed to help players ages 7-9 improve their technical soccer skills to play at a higher level, as well as their love for the game. Our dedicated coaching staff follows a curriculum that provides players with high-quality instruction and age-appropriate activities which creates a fun learning environment. The majority of the players that enter the Academy during their U10 years move on to play competitive (Classic) soccer once they graduate the Academy program. The Academy program is all about development; we are not concerned with wins/loses or goals given or scored. Our goal is to give each academy player the tools they need to reach a higher level in their own soccer skill development. A pool-style training and game system is utilized to create the best possible environment for player development. This allows for players of similar abilities to train and play together consistently. Practice is held on Tuesday & Thursday evenings from 5:30pm-7pm.

U12 Program
To continue the development from the U10 Academy program, players ages 10-11 in the U12 Academy program will continue to build on the the skills they have developed an begin to explore the game as a whole with established roles and responsibilities for positioning, playing together as one unit, and expanding vision and soccer IQ. These players will be readying themselves for higher competition in either a Classic team and/or a competitive middle school environment. Practice is held on Tuesday & Thursday evenings from 5:30pm-7pm.

Game Locations
Games for the U10/U12 Academy program are primarily on Saturday/Sunday mornings and incorporate playing within TYSA as well as competing with other clubs in the area during the season. Academy teams will travel either to Asheville, NC, or Greer, SC, for games to play competitive Academy teams from other youth soccer organizations (CFC & CESA). This schedule will be communicated prior to the season.

Placement Evaluations

All players interested in participating in the TYSA Academy program must be evaluated. The main placement evaluation is usually held in May each year for the upcoming fall season (August-October), and in January for the upcoming spring season (starting in March-May).

Registration
Academy players must be evaluated before registering for the season and will register for the Academy program via our website, www.tysa.us, only after receiving an invitation from TYSA for the upcoming season.

Pricing
In order to continue to provide a quality and rigorous program for our Academy players, TYSA is planning for and considering utilizing resources beyond our present volunteer coaching staff. These opportunities are currently being evaluated, and a program price will be announced to players accepted on the team before registration. The price will not exceed $300 per player for any season but does not include their uniform (jersey, shorts, and soccer socks). Scholarships are given based on need and availability of funds. This pricing is competitive in comparison to program fees for Academy programs in the surrounding area.
